Finkenberg, a small and charming village in the Zillertal Valley, offers a quieter alternative to its lively neighbour, Mayrhofen, while still giving skiers and snowboarders easy access to world-class terrain. Linked directly into the Zillertal 3000 ski area, it provides more than 200 kilometres of pistes, from gentle beginner slopes to challenging reds and blacks, as well as freeride zones and snowparks. Snowboarders benefit from wide carving runs and proximity to Mayrhofen’s famous Vans Penken Park. The village itself has a traditional Tyrolean feel, making it ideal for families and those who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, yet the après-ski of Mayrhofen is only a short bus or car ride away. Accommodation in Finkenberg includes cosy family-run guesthouses, mid-range alpine hotels, self-catering apartments, and a few wellness-focused lodges with spas and pools. Prices are generally a little lower than in Mayrhofen, offering good value for those wanting access to the same ski area.
